National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Geospatial Analyst in United States

Summary Geospatial Analysts create, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support U.S. military and policymaker interests. They apply knowledge of geographic information science and technology, statistics, spatial thinking, remote sensing, intelligence issues, and the social and physical sciences to characterize events, discover relationships and trends, and produce geospatial intelligence. These analyst Responsibilities ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: NGA is currently recruiting for Geospatial Analyst at multiple locations. Below are brief descriptions of the location and respective duties. NGA Wright-Patterson AFB allows a challenging opportunity to work with analysts from the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, the National Space Intelligence Center, Air Force Materiel Command in one location. The work supports multiple end-users, from the war fighter to Congress, depending on the nature of the project and what product type comes from it. Intellectual vigor and strong investigative discipline will be necessary. This position is specifically focused on GEOINT support to aerospace threats (missile, aircraft, space) addressing our nation's highest priority requirements. NGA SPACECOM at located at Schriever SFB, CO and Peterson SFB, CO, team supports the overall Command in various capacities. Interested applicants will have the opportunity to provide full-spectrum GEOINT analysis on the operational status of adversarial, terrestrial-based (to include air, land, and maritime) counterspace threats to inform command elements on the defense warning problem, perform non-earth imagery (NEI) analysis against available data sources and matter expertise to command elements on NEI within timelines required. Opportunities also allot 24/7 time-dominant support to USSPACECOM. Working alongside a team of professionals providing USSTRATCOM with the highest level of relevant geospatial intelligence. This team ensures the Command has the geospatial intelligence needed to enhance support to operational readiness and exercises to support the Unified Command Plan Missions of: Strategic Deterrence, Nuclear Operations, Missile Defense, and more. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information. All employees are subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs. Employees with SCI access and who are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a Security Financial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Failure to comply may negatively impact continued access to Top Secret information, Information Systems, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs. NGA utilizes all processes and procedures of the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Non-executive NGA employees are assigned to five distinct pay bands based on the type and scope of work performed. The employee's base salary is established within their assigned pay band based on their unique qualifications. A performance pay process is conducted each year to determine a potential base pay salary increase and/or bonus. An employee's annual performance evaluation is a key factor in the performance pay process. Employees on term or temporary appointments are not eligible to apply for internal assignment opportunity notices. This position is a DCIPS position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601. Qualifications MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Experience developing and presenting briefings to meet the needs of various audiences. 2. Experience using critical thinking skills and/or data analytics to solve problems and draw logical conclusions. 3. Experience with one or more of the following technical skills: computer vision implementation, data mining, data analytics, data visualization, statistical analysis, algorithm development, and/or data science. 4. Experience working collaboratively with others. 5. Experience creating GIS tools, models, or applications. 6. Experience with geospatial database management or throughputs (such as server management or Geospatial databases). EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Geography, Physical Science, Data Analytics, Cartography, Statistics, or a related field -OR- a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a certificate in GIS from an accredited university. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in GIS, spatial analysis, or any area listed in option A, plus experience working in an Intelligence discipline requiring creating, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data, or related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience working in an Intelligence discipline requiring creating, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Distinguish principal colors and shades/hues of principal colors; Near visual acuity of 20/20 or better with or without corrective lenses DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience with imagery analysis or all-source intelligence to address matters of national concern, such as foreign military, environmental, and/or terrorism. 2. Knowledge of analytic processes, tools, or techniques used to manage geospatial data. 3. Experience performing geospatial analysis to recommend geospatial solutions. 4. Experience using geospatial data in analytic processes, techniques, or tools. 5. Experience with intelligence production and/or publication processes. 6. Experience in a related work role for the federal government, specifically the military, Combat Commands, and/or Intelligence Community. Education Additional Information
