Who you are This position will report directly to Senior Corporate Counsel, with reporting responsibility to the Senior Director, Social Impact & Employee Relations. Both the Colliers US Business and People Services team will be key stakeholders for the incumbent who will be focused on building and optimizing our US Compliance function. This is a remote role supporting the West Coast Team, PST Time Zone What you bring JD or LL. B from an accredited university and must be admitted in at least one state. 1 to 5 years of experience. Experience with compliance and/or employment law preferred. Strong business acumen and strategic thinker who has ability to assess risk and provide practical advice to key stakeholders. Proactive, results-oriented, and resourceful. Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and deliver excellent customer service at all levels of the organization. Ability to influence without authority by creating consensus. Possess organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy, excellent product quality and attention to detail. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook What success looks like Proactively audit and analyze current HR compliance practices and provide recommendations to implement/update and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, for our US business. This includes issue spotting and identifying current compliance risks and creating a scalable strategy to facilitate a sustainable compliance process. Serve as the subject matter expert on all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including proactively communicating compliance requirements, including any necessary analysis and recommendations, on an ongoing basis to People Services. Collaborate cross-functionally within People Services to implement updates - including leading project-based work, where necessary - to company polices, processes, and practices based on changes to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risk across our US Business with industry best practices and legal requirements. Maintain and update the US employee handbook to accurately reflect current policies, legal requirements, and evolving company culture and industry practices. Manage cross-functional task force required to implement necessary updates and changes. Assist members of the Legal and People Services teams in drafting employment/independent contractor agreements and related documentation and updating standard templates and documentation (e.g. new hire materials, separation documentation). Oversee special research projects from time to time upon request.
