City of Savannah CLEAN ENERGY PROGRAM MANAGER in Savannah, Georgia
Essential Job Functions Manage existing and future clean energy projects as assigned by the Director of Sustainability
- Serve as a technical advisor to the Director of Sustainability on energy projects and energy policy.
- Complete triannual updates of the 100% Savannah plan, per the City Councils directive
- Identify grant opportunities, develop grant applications, and manage awarded grants.
- Research and propose policies, programs, and technologies that can be applied toward the Citys 100% Savannah goals.
- Foster partnerships with community groups, nonprofits, financial institutions, businesses, peer local governments, and other organizations in support of the 100% Savannah goals
- Represent the City in energy-focused stakeholder engagement processes and regulatory proceedings (e.g. IRP proceedings, rate cases, DSM Working Group, etc.)
- Communicate clean energy topics in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing to diverse audiences with varying degrees of background knowledge and experience.
- Conduct regular public outreach on energy topics.
- Prepare reports and messaging as requested for the Mayors Office, City Administration, City Council, and the public on project status and energy program accomplishments.
- Supervise the Clean Energy Program Coordinator
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in the hard sciences, technology, or engineering
- Three years of professional experience in a relevant field is preferred. Internships, research experience, and volunteer experience may be considered for exceptional candidates.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong interest and/or experience in several of the following areas: energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric transportation, utility regulation, energy markets, clean energy finance
- Commitment to centering work in social and racial equity.
- Ability to learn and absorb new information quickly and respond to changing circumstances.
- Ability to innovate and accomplish ambitious goals with limited resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated critical and systems thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with managing long-term, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Experience writing and managing federal grants.
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or similar credential
- Experience engaging and/or organizing community members and other stakeholders, particularly those from historically marginalized communities.
- Experience working in local, state or federal government and/or public sector.

- Benchmarking building energy performance, energy efficiency, and building systems
- Developing short-term and long-term planning
- Public and interpersonal relation techniques
- English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Modern office procedures and methods including common office software, but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated skill in making effective public presentations
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, resourceful and skillful in conducting secondary research, information discovery, and data aggregation
