We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Sales Engineer - Power Systems position!

Here is some of what you’ll do…

POSITION SUMMARY:The Sales Engineer provides engineering support for projects assigned by leadership in support of the sales, approval and documentation process of equipment and systems supplied by Hawthorne Power Systems.(HPS). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and maintaining engineering library. In conjunction with IT department maintain, upgrade and train specialized engineering/sales systems software and procedures. Control of engineering support in the form of submittals and drawings in accordance with HPS procedures and company policies for EPG, Industrial and Marine business activities.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies customer technical requirements by establishing personal rapport with HPS staff, customers and other persons in a position to understand project requirements. Provides product, service or equipment technical and engineering information to necessary parties.

  • Prepares submittal documents by studying blueprints, plans, specs and related customer documents; consulting with engineers, contractors, architects, and other professional and technical personnel.

  • Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, suppliers, or service applications in customer environment; engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customer on product, service or equipment adherence to requirements; advising customer on needed actions.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.

  • Prepares and delivers technical presentations that explain products or services to customers and prospective customers.

  • Researches, identifies and recommends potential vendors for products or services.

  • Provides technical and non-technical support and services to clients or other staff members regarding the use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.

  • Maintains engineering technical library.

  • Maintains daily summaries for reporting activities to supervisors and management on assigned projects.

  • Participates in the regularly scheduled engineering meetings in support of inter-departmental and inter-divisional activities as related to assigned projects within the Engineering Department.

  • Follows company policies and industry safety rules.

  • Normal work hours are typically weekdays. Extended work days and weekend activities as required by project and department work load.

  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Engineering degree (BA, MS) preferred, and 2+ years recent experience in power generation industry with demonstrated technical training.

  • Experience using MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel) and PC Skills required.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCad and MS Project preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must have the ability to communicate business and technical information to co-workers, customers and management using both verbal and written media.

  • Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walking: Move about on foot in office, shop and construction sites

  • Handling: Works with hands.

  • Lifting: May lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.

  • Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.

  • Standing: Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job.

  • Vision: Reads paperwork, client files and records on the computer.

  • Talking: Communications via telecommunications and in person.

  • Sitting: Sits at desk. Sits for long periods of time.

    ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.

  • Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment.
