OVERVIEW: Senior Systems Engineer

BlueHalo seeks a highly qualitiedSenior Systems Engineerto support our nxtRF division's radar and RF portfolio of products. At BlueHalo we design, integrate, test, and deploy state-of-the-art systems for a range of applications, including wireless communications, radar, phased array antennas, 5G/LTE, positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT). We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced RF technologies.

The Senior Systems Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and integration of RF technologies. This position requires a deep understanding of systems architecture, including shipboard communication systems, phased array and/or radar systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and other RF-based defense systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that RF technologies meet the unique requirements and challenges of operations in real-world environments.

You’d like to do this

  • Design and develop systems architecture for RF-based systems, including phased array and/or radar systems, EW systems, and sensor integration.

  • Ensure interoperability, scalability, and resilience of systems architecture in relevant environments.

  • Analyze and define system requirements, specifications, and performance parameters. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify operational needs, user requirements, and system constraints for various applications.

  • Optimize the performance, reliability, and efficiency of RF technologies. Conduct system-level analysis, simulation, and modeling to assess performance metrics, mitigate risks, and enhance system capabilities.

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, vulnerabilities, and dependencies associated with systems architecture. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential challenges and uncertainties.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, software engineers, and RF engineers.

  • Communicate technical concepts, design decisions, and project status updates to stakeholders and senior management.

  • Prepare technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and test plans to support the development and deployment of newly developed systems/technologies. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and government regulations.

  • Prepare regular progress reports, technical briefings, and presentations for internal stakeholders and client teams, effectively communicating project status, milestones, and key deliverables.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and transfer within the organization, documenting lessons learned and best practices to inform future projects and initiatives.

  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

  • Solicit feedback and input from stakeholders throughout the system development lifecycle, incorporating requirements and preferences to enhance system performance and user experience.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technical advisor on system engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.

You’re required to have this

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.

  • 6+ years in systems engineering, preferably with a focus on RF technologies and/or naval systems architecture.

  • Experience with RF technologies, including phased array or radar systems, communication systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and sensor integration.

  • Experience with systems engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices for requirements analysis, system design, and integration.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and attention to detail in complex systems environments.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Experience in the defense industry or government contracting environment is desirable.

    You could have this

  • Strong understanding of naval platforms, systems, and operations, particularly in the context of maritime defense.

  • Experience with integration and testing of RF technologies, including hardware platforms, software applications, and communication interfaces.
