Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Infrastructure Planning and Acquisition (IPA) organization is looking for a data-driven Senior Technical Program Manager that posseses collaboration and communication skills and execution ability for our Geo Expansion function - covering new region launch and existing region expansion planning. This role is responsible for managing cross functional infrastructure strategy and plans to support our rapidly scaling global data center infrastructure. This role will manage strategy and planning for Microsoft’s new cloud region launches and regional expansions. The right candidate will drive clarity and decisions on infrastructure sourcing signals by integrating with Azure, Finance, and Infrastructure acquisition teams, including land, power, network, and data center leasing and acquisition.

This role is part of a critical function that will be accountable for driving critical infrastructure decisions making sure all inputs are adequately captured and analyzed. This role will focus on:

  • Analysis of regional demand and supply inputs and variances to support long term decisions

  • Coordinating and driving infrastructure decisions on a timely manner

  • Identifying data needs, collecting required data, and providing the analysis to expedite decision making

  • Coordinating with finance on financial analysis and decision alignment

  • Program managing inputs to planning of new cloud regions

  • Understanding and clarifying key constraints to deploying new regions in a timely manner

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the new and existing expansion cloud region strategy and planning processes

  • Coordinate inputs for planning of new region launches and existing region expansions across infrastructure acquisition and Azure

  • Manage the infrastructure decision process to drive decisions on time and in alignment with our strategy

  • Drive close collaboration with planning and execution teams to resolve infrastructure problems

  • Perform Data analysis as required for driving infrastructure decisions

Qualifications

Required Qualifcations:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Demonstrated program management skills, including ability to direct multiple programs

  • Comfortable navigating, transforming, and managing large, complex, and ambiguous projects spanning multiple company divisions with high levels of visibility

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a wide array of stakeholders including internal teams, customers and senior leadership

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
