Job Title: Penetration Tester

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship

Location: Quantico, Virginia (with potential requirements for travel to other locations as per project demands)

Clearance: Active DOD Clearance

Role Summary: The Penetration Tester is tasked with conducting both internal and external penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities in the Marine Corps Community Services’ network and systems. This role requires a deep understanding of ethical hacking, network security, and penetration testing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Penetration Testing: Perform rigorous penetration tests on internal and external network systems to identify exploitable vulnerabilities.

• Tools and Techniques: Utilize current industry-standard tools and techniques for penetration testing. Adjust methodologies based on the landscape and emerging threat patterns.

• Vulnerability Analysis: Analyze penetration test results to distinguish between false positives, exploitable vulnerabilities, and non-exploitable vulnerabilities.

• Reporting and Documentation: Provide detailed reports that include test methods, findings, evidence, and recommendations for remediation.

• Security Recommendations: Work closely with cybersecurity teams to develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and enhance the security posture.

• Continuous Improvement: Keep abreast of new penetration testing methods and technologies. Participate in continuing education to enhance skills.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.

• Demonstrable experience with penetration testing and vulnerability assessment tools.

• Strong understanding of network protocols, cryptography, and security-related technologies.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), or similar.

• Prior experience working with government or military IT environments.

• Experience with scripting languages for automation of tasks and vulnerability exploitation.

Security Clearance:

• Active DOD security clearance. 

These roles are critical for maintaining the integrity and security of MCCS’s IT infrastructure, directly impacting the safety and security of sensitive military operations and data.
