Amazon Treasury Manager, Bank Relationship Management, Capital Markets & Investments in New York, New York

Amazon seeks an experienced Treasury Manager to oversee our bank relationship management function within the Capital Markets & Investments Team. This team manages a $60 billion investment portfolio, executes Amazon's debt and equity capital markets transactions, oversees the company's liquidity forecasting, and conducts counterparty and credit risk analysis.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable navigating ambiguity and balancing multiple, competing priorities. They will serve as the main point of contact for all bank relationship matters, working closely with senior members of our banking partners as well as internal leadership. This role requires a broad understanding of banking functions, treasury banking operations, and the diverse banking needs across our internal teams.

This position requires a candidate with a strong sense of ownership over their responsibilities. They will work to continuously improve the team’s processes, deliver results, and innovate to further develop the role. A demonstrated drive to enhance operations and drive efficiencies is key.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop a global banking strategy that aligns communication policies with qualitative input from internal teams and quantitative data from our bank performance dashboard

  • Consolidate bank relationship data into a centralized internal database to facilitate easy access to relationship information, RFI/RFP analysis and results, and internal rankings

  • Implement a relationship management platform to automate bank performance reporting, capture qualitative feedback from internal stakeholders, and provide senior management with detailed, real-time insights on each bank relationship

  • Manage Amazon’s credit facilities to ensure access to sufficient liquidity

  • Conduct quarterly bank relationship meetings and facilitate escalations across leadership teams

  • Partner with the team on department initiatives and ad hoc analyses

A day in the life

The primary responsibilities of this role include managing relationships with Amazon's global banking partners. This involves coordinating strategic initiatives, driving clear communication across internal stakeholders, ensuring sufficient credit capacity across our banking group, developing performance metrics to evaluate and optimize our share of wallet, and establishing mechanisms to capture bank data and create reporting for senior leadership. The successful candidate will work to ensure Amazon has the appropriate global banking partners to support business growth and deliver for our customers.

About the team

Treasury and Risk Management organization oversees cash management, investments, foreign exchange, capital structure, financing, sanctions screening, global risk and claims management, and internal audit functions for Amazon. We provide support and act as internal consultants to the business and operating teams with respect to treasury and risk management areas. Our work is focused on four areas for our customers: Improving liquidity; Mitigating risk; Improving efficiency and productivity; Building customer value.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, or relevant work experience required

  • Experience in treasury / banking / relationship management / capital markets

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA, MBA, or other similar degree

  • Familiarity with roles and functions within treasury organizations

  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills

  • Background in institutional banking, investment management, corporate treasury, or applicable field

  • Understanding of capital markets and liquidity management

  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Highly innovative and flexible; a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and creative problem-solving

  • Excellent business judgment, including strong written and oral communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
