About the role This position is for a transactional attorney with strong commercial and some corporate law background. The position will report to the Associate General Counsel and will be primarily responsible for the preparation, negotiation and control of most corporate contracts; assist with some compliance matters; and support the company’s mergers and acquisition activity, including managing and conducting due diligence, contract review and negotiation, and provide contract training to business associates throughout the organization. Responsibilities Prepare and/or reviews contracts involving various substantive areas of law: including, but not limited to, commercial, real estate, compliance, licensing and employment Provide corporate governance advice to the organization, including preparation of policies. Assist in the company’s acquisition activity (primarily due diligence) Enhance the effectiveness of the legal department through the participation in staff meetings’, training, and the positive interaction with internal and external clients Understanding of the company’s business strategy Responsible for foreseeing and protecting the company against legal risks Provide support in non-transactional legal matters, as needed Qualifications Must be able to read, analyze and interpret complex documents Must have good communication and interpersonal skills Must be a self- starter with a good business sense and a sense of urgency, honesty and fairness Must have the ability to respond effectively toa wide range of transactional inquiries Second Language, Spanish and / or Mandarin is a plus Education & Experience Must be a graduate of an accredited law school Must be admitted to the New York state bar 5 to 10 years’ of experience in a corporate or law firm setting; in-house experience a plus Must have experience with commercial, real estate, contract and corporate law Experience with corporate governance is a plus Travel Less than 5% What We Offer Comprehensive benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance programs 401K plans with employer-matching contributions Tuition reimbursement PTO Paid holidays Volunteer time off For more information about benefits, please go to: https://careers.leviton.com/benefits Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
