We have opportunities at numerous 3M manufacturing plant locations throughout the Mid-West region of the United States. Here you will make an impact by:Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand process requirements and develop control strategies to meet operational goals.Program and configure PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and other control devices to monitor and control process variables.Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications.Develop and maintain documentation, including control system design specifications, functional descriptions, and operating procedures.Collaborate with maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient repairs.Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes related to control systems, and proactively implement necessary changes to improve processes and ensure compliance.Participate in the design and implementation of process automation projects, including system integration and software development.Provide technical support and training to plant personnel, including operators and maintenance teams, to ensure effective operation and troubleshooting of control systems.Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to procure control system equipment, software, and services, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering from an accredited institution.Three (3) years of experience in control systems design, implementation, and optimization in a private, public, government or military environment.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of control system principles, including PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
