Catalent Pharma Solutions Material Handler in Manassas, Virginia

POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Handler transports raw, in process and finished goods as required by production schedule. Ships and receives materials necessary to meet production goals and requirements. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing product & material movements, accurately. Process daily, weekly cycle counts.

Location : Manassas, VA

Shift: 6AM-6PM continental shift (2-2-3) with rotating weekends

Hired candidate must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of distribution center (shipping, receiving, order picking, cycle count). Relies on instructions, pre-established guidelines, experience and judgment to perform the functions of the job and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks autonomously and with proficiency. Works under general supervision. Some degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Manassas provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. The site has the capability to manufacture cold-processed soft chews for nutritional supplements and nutraceuticals, as well as small batch lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, ingredients, and colors available, we can work with complex formulations to help create engaging new products consumers will love.

The Role:

• Perform stablished method of order picking (FIFO), finished goods to customers according to specified instructions; Must be able to read, understand, and interpret shipping documents i.e. BOL, packing list, pro-numbers.

• Assembles and inserts product into cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers; Posts weights and shipping charges and affixes necessary postage; Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons to identifying shipping information on cartons.

• Receives raw materials and supplies into warehouse with accordance to our internal receiving SOP; Obtains Material samples as required by sample orders.

• Unpacks and examines all incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

• Operates tier lift truck and uses electric pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

• Routes incoming shipments to appropriate departments; Creates computer generated labels and documents, light to moderate data entry required.

• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand; Performs established method of order shipping (FIFO), ships finished goods to customers according to specified instructions; Load, transport and unload materials and supplies from suppliers and vendors using forklift; Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist materials and supplies from one location to another as specified.

• Transport raw materials and supplies to and from specified locations; Examines incoming and outgoing product, materials and supplies to ensure they meet transportation specifications; Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of related to material processing to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; Performs monthly physical inventory.

• Maintains cleanliness, routine maintenance and upkeep of the company vehicle to include a daily visual safety inspection and proper fuel levels; Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand; Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of warehouse, shipping and receiving area and all equipment and supplies found therein; Maintain clean work area in compliance with SQF.

• Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

• High school diploma required

• Forklift experience required

• 1+ years warehousing experience preferred

• Inventory experience preferred

• Experience at GMP food warehouse preferred

• Scanner or warehouse management system (WMS) system preferred

• Ability to observe and follow safety procedures; Ability to ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are followed; Ability to observe and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Food Safety Plan (HACCP) and Food Quality Plan (FQP).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 2500 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and taste or smell.
