Otak, Inc. Water Resources Project Engineer in Louisville, Colorado

Otak is seeking to hire a Water Resources Project Engineer to join our Water and Natural Resources team in our Louisville or Denver, CO office. Our team specializes in the analysis and design of river and stream restoration, stormwater management, and master planning projects throughout Colorado, as well as supporting our Pacific Northwest offices. The Water Resources Project Engineer will work with a team of eight other water resource engineers and geomorphologists in the Louisville/Denver area on a range of water resource engineering projects for a broad range of public and private sector cl

The Water and Natural Resources group work as part of multi-disciplinary teams (including the other disciplines within our Colorado office - transportation and structural engineering, landscape architecture, and planning and urban design) to minimize and/or mitigate the impacts of infrastructure development on natural resources. Our projects typically include hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analyses (1D and 2D), river/stream restoration guided by geomorphic principles, diversion design, fish passage design, watershed master planning, storm drain design, flood hazard mitigation, and wat

What you'll do:

Design of stream restoration and stormwater infrastructure solutions. Prepare various reports supporting design decisions. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. Support Low Impact Development/Green infrastructure design initiatives. Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Prepare watershed studies and master plans. Construction engineering and observation. Manage small to medium projects, including developing scope, schedule, and budget. Provide support to Otak's transportation, structures, planning, and architecture business units. What you bring:

5+ years of previous Project Engineering experience in stream/river restoration, stormwater management or related water resources field. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required. A Master's degree in Water Resources or Environment Engineering is preferred. Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. Demonstrated experience with the application of water resource models such as SWMM, CUHP, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), SRH2D, and FLO2D. Proficiency with the preparation of construction documents for project designs and permits supported by hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic calculations. Working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation (not required, but a plus), Microsoft Office Suite. Proficient knowledge of federal, state, and local design requirements and safety laws. Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and strong independent work ethic. The salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations.

Salary Range: $90,000-$125,000 per year
