Position Summary

The WW Eliquis Medical Lead is accountable for medical leadership, strategy and execution of medical affairs-related activities for Eliquis within the broad global Eliquis Alliance framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role will have accountability to act as the WW Medical Lead for Eliquis reporting to the Executive Director, WW Eliquis and Established Brands (EB) team.

  • Lead the cross functional medical matrix team, providing Medical support for ongoing activities, Pediatric Development, Safety and Evidence Generation areas of responsibility

  • Develop and drive execution of the global medical plan, provide medical insight into strategic plans, and provide strategic direction in scientific communication to ensure delivery of key knowledge to the internal stakeholders including local medical market colleagues; ensure global alignment and input for the medical plan.

  • Drive integrated strategy and communication, ensuring optimized and aligned thought leader interactions and seamless coordinated communications both internally and externally.

  • Partner with Commercial, Development, HEOR, MEG and other matrix functions to drive cohesive brand strategy and execution.

  • Foster connectivity and build alignment across all major functions (e.g. Development, R&D, HEOR, Value Access & Pricing, MEG Regulatory, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, etc.) on key initiatives such as data generation, communication and supporting access.

  • Closely partner and build connectivity within the Global Alliance teams to ensure unified medical strategy and optimized execution of brand activities globally.

  • Drive WW medical Launch plan for the Major and Intercon Markets for the pediatric indications

  • Lead medical insight at cross-functional teams, including labeling recommendations based on proactive signal detection activities, ensuring appropriate use of the medicine.

  • Manage budget and adapt to a changing environment through contingency planning and appropriate resource allocation.

  • Ensure compliance with medical, regulatory, legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MD, PharmD, PhD or Equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in medical affairs and 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Prior industry experience in CV Medical Affairs/Medical Strategy or related experience is strongly preferred.

  • Leadership acumen and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate flexibility, open mindedness, and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Ability to promote collegiality and teamwork, as well as to think clearly and decisively when presenting independent, reasoned solutions to identified safety issues

Experience Desired

  • Experience working within the Alliance framework and previous brand medical affairs leadership experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with working in multiple markets and understanding of applicable regulatory frameworks.

  • Experience in all medical and safety aspects of a marketed product.

  • Previous people management experience
