Wetland Scientist/Biologist
POWER Engineers Inc. is seeking a full-time Wetland Scientist/Biologist for our Environmental Division – Rocky Mountain Biology Department for the western United States. This position will be a full-time, remote-based from the Pacific or Mountain time zone . Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
Roles and responsibilities
As a Wetland Scientist/Biologist you will support and help build the environmental project team focused on transmission lines, fire hardening, renewable energy, oil and gas pipelines, transportation projects, residential and commercial development projects, stream/habitat restoration projects, environmental surveys, NEPA analyses, and permitting services. Responsibilities will include completing wetland delineations in accordance with USACE protocols, associated wetland/water permitting (CWA Section 404, CWA Section 401, NPDES, other applicable state water-related permitting), supporting biological field survey efforts, permitting, and documentation throughout the western U.S.
The position will be filled by a detail-oriented candidate, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. An established and successful history completing wetland and biological survey efforts is desired for this candidate. The candidate must have the experience to complete and manage wetland delineation efforts and biological field surveys including avian, wildlife, vegetation, sensitive species, and T&E species. While much of the work for this position is in the field, effective communication skills are important for success in this role.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Wetland Science, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or other related field
Five (5) + years prior consulting work, ideally with linear corridor projects, e.g., pipelines and/or electric transmission
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with wetland functional assessment methodologies (CRAM, ORWAP, MWAM, etc.)
Familiarity with the USACE protocols and permitting procedures
Wetland/waterway delineation experience
Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Substantial biological field survey knowledge
Experience with state wildlife agency survey protocols is preferred
Must be able to work in remote conditions and independently
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other related field
Certification or licensure in field of expertise. CWB, PWS, PMP or other professional designation preferred

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $60K $105K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
