About This Job

Air and Space Force Solutions, a business unit within BAE Systems, has an opening at our Hill Air Force Base, Utah location for a system administrator. The selected candidate will join our Information Services team and have an important role in supporting our mission of Strategic Deterrence through continual improvement and innovation. The position will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Deploy and configure Windows and Linux applications using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, PowerShell, or manual deployment

  • Installation of various COTS and GOTS software applications

  • Software licensing and server certification

  • Testing application functionality and ensuring proper and up-to-date security configurations

  • Software removal from networks

  • Responsible for training other team members on current business practices and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures

  • Perform software version upgrades

  • Provide Systems Administration for Windows servers 2016 and 2019 (virtual and physical) and workstations (virtual and physical)

  • Microsoft Active Directory design, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

  • Implement and test software patches and security fixes

  • Perform installation, configuration, hardening, and testing for new/updated system changes

  • Develop, execute, and improve documentation for installation, configuration, hardening, and operations and maintenance tasks

  • Document activities, status, and issues worked

  • Provide input to and follow direction from Configuration Management processes

  • Ensure adherence to IT infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures

  • Assist in performing root cause analysis and resolving faults and errors in systems and applications

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Degree and Technical Experience Requirements

A technical degree in computer science, or other related IT degree, and years of relevant experience for this position are as follows:

  • HS Diploma and 7 years of experience

  • BS/BA Degree and 3 years of experience

  • MS/MA Degree and 2 years of experience

Experience and skills in the following:

  • Communicating effectively with internal and external resources necessary to successfully complete assignments or projects

  • Proactively managing and prioritizing multiple related projects, assignments, timelines, milestones, and follow-up communications

  • Troubleshoot and resolve daily support tickets including end-user support via phone, email, and remote control

  • Utilize DISA STIG checklists to assess and document compliance

  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

  • Experience updating and administrating applications on RHEL servers

  • Storage Administration with creation of LUNs, Volumes, Snapshots, and iSCSI connections

  • Desire to help team build and share learned skills

  • Experience creating and using ACAS scans

  • Hypervisor experience working with VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter

  • Backup solutions in Commvault

  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Active Directory, GPO s, DHCP, DNS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell

  • General understanding of antivirus software

  • General understanding of vulnerability scanning software

  • General understanding of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)

  • Ensure assigned operating systems and applications are compliant with all applicable Department of Defense (DoD) directives and guidelines, including Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) bulletins

  • Web applications hosted on virtualized Microsoft Servers

  • Web Applications that utilize Microsoft IIS or Apache Tomcat

  • Web applications that have database connections to MS SQL Server or Oracle db

  • Web applications using LDAP protocol (active directory integration)

  • Desktop Applications deployed to multiple workstations using SCCM (i.e. MECM)

  • Desktop Applications deployed using a silent installation method

  • Desktop Applications that utilize concurrent licensing model (i.e. pulls license from a license server)

  • Knowledge of AWS supporting large-scale deployments as an administrator

  • Knowledge of load balancing/failover technologies

  • Knowledge of migrating and/or extending on-premises software to the cloud

  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud Platform (IaaS)

  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Use of scripting to automate administrative tasks using Bash, PowerShell, Python, and/or AWS Console

  • AWS Cloud Certification is a preferred

  • Microsoft Certification is a preferred

  • Industry Certifications

  • Analytical Graphics STK (Systems Tool Kit)

  • Dassault Systemes - Cameo Enterprise Architecture & Teamwork Cloud; SolidWorks

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $61830 - $105120

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
