This position receives data from various sources and uses that data to help detect organizational structures, trends, and movements of criminal factions. The Analyst prepares analytical assessments and reports, participates in agency meetings and conferences, testifies at court proceedings, and makes oral presentations at hearings. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Unit Supervisor and is reviewed for conformance with the Department's prescribed policies and procedures. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Intelligence Analyst 2, you receive and analyze confidential information to formulate and pursue hypotheses of relevant developments, trends and patterns of organized crime and criminal groups.

Duties include evaluating information to determine validity and preparing comprehensive intelligence reports based upon available data. You utilize the department's automated intelligence system, the automated investigative system, and other computer systems in the analysis, dissemination, and storage of intelligence information. In addition, you analyze and evaluate a variety of intelligence data to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities of organized crime and criminal groups, and prepare assessments and recommendations relative to strategic and tactical investigative goals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Work hours rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with 30-minute lunch. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $57,793.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience as an Intelligence Analyst 1 (commonwealth title), and 15 college credits in criminal justice, homeland security, or a related field; or Two years of professional experience in the analysis of information that includes reporting conclusions and recommendations, and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 15 college credits in criminal justice, homeland security, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 15 college credits in criminal justice, homeland security, or a related field.

Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a Top Secret Security Clearance issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or attainment of this clearance during the probationary period, and continual maintenance of this clearance during employment in the position. Failure to obtain and maintain an FBI Top Secret Security Clearance will result in the employee's removal from the position. Removal may result in the termination of employment if other placement options are not available.

Additional Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in critical thinking, to include using logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate complex issues and apply research information to identify trends. Two (2) years of experience in gathering nd analyzing criminal justice data; and organizing and presenting those facts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Two (2) years of experience performing online research. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required): One (1) year experience in conducting link/event/association analysis for complex investigations. One (1) year experience briefing on target, methodology, and criminal activity. One (1) year experience in the use of multiple specialized analytical and intelligence systems, local, state, and federal databases, as well as open-source outlets and social media platforms.

Legal Requirement: You must pass criminal history check and a background investigation. You must obtain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certifications issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
