Black & McDonald Limited Houskeeping/Environmental Services Supervisor in Greater Toronto Area, Ontario

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald's Environmental Services team is seeking a highly organized and detailed-oriented Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness, safety and compliance of our facility that comprises of medical, office and lab spaces. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing environmental services operations, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for staff and visitors. The role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and thorough understanding of clinical and lab area protocols and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise a team of environmental services staff, providing guidance, training and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality service.

  • Conduct regular inspections of clinical areas, offices and lab spaces to assess cleanliness, safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules, protocols, and procedures tailored to the specific need of our clients.

  • Plan and coordinate daily environmental services activities' including cleaning, disinfection, waste management and infection control measures.

  • Collaborate with department managers and staff to address environmental services related issues, concerns, and special requirements.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste in accordance with the applicable regulations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of environmental services activities, including cleaning logs, inspection reports, and compliance records.

  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, and coordinate procurement as needed to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

  • Participate in facility-wide initiatives to promote a culture of cleanliness, safety, and infection prevention.

  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to environmental services in medical and laboratory settings.

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized cleaning services, equipment maintenance and special projects as needed.

  • Monitor and analyze environmental services performance metrics, such as cleanliness scores, infection rates, and customer feedback, and implement improvements based on data-driven insights.

  • Serve as a liaison between environmental services staff and other departments fostering effective communication and collaboration to address facility-wide needs and initiatives.

  • Conduct regular meetings with clients and huddles with environmental services staff to provide updates, share best practices, and solicit feedback on operational improvements.

  • Assist in development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans and procedures, including response protocols for infection disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and other emergencies.

  • Participate in regulatory agency inspections, audits, and surveys, providing documentations and supporting evidence to demonstrate compliance with environmental services standards and requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Services Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior supervisory experience in a similar position in a health care setting.

  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation practices and infection control principles relevant to medical and laboratory environments.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a diverse team.

  • Proficiency in conduction inspections, documenting findings, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and guidelines governing environmental services in healthcare facilities (e.g. OSHA, CDC, CEPA).

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Due to many mandatory vaccination requirements at client projects / facilities, in order to provide substantial employment by ensuring compliance with our client's mandates, the successful candidate will be required to validate full vaccination prior to hire.

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and guidelines governing environmental services in healthcare facilities (e.g. OSHA, CDC, CEPA).

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
