Cost Accountant
Within the EMEA Finance Organization we currently have a fulltime vacancy in Ghent-South, Belgium for a Cost Accountant.
The Cost Accountant is responsible for controlling the material ledger for the Ghent products within the inventories of own entity as well as these materials sold to other Eastman entities and materials imported from other entities and sold through the Ghent entity. By routinely checking SAP transactions, incorrect cost allocations and large variances in actual costing of materials are avoided. This is achieved by target setting in SAP for material and activity prices and delivering accurate and timely financial information to various departments at the Ghent site, the Corporate Cost Organization in Kingsport, USA and the Business.
The Cost Accountant reports to the Operations controller EMEA, has strong connections with the Corporate Cost Team, regional (Cost) Accountants and various departments in Ghent.
Responsibilities and duties of the Cost Accountant
Monthly closing and reporting:
Verify costs are categorized properly and activity levels are reasonable
Ensure cost center costs are properly allocated to product or other cost centers
Ensure material ledger cost is accurate
Process any necessary journal entries
Review production postings and inventory adjustments
Inventory accuracy:
Coordination of physical inventory counts
Participation in bi-monthly rework count & annual physical inventory count
Ensure accuracy of cost units. Process cost estimates and standard cost updates as needed
Review and monitoring of inventory procedures
Ensure accuracy of Expired Excess Obsolete Aged stock and maintain approval evidence
Reporting activities related to inventory accounting
Focal point for internal and external audits
Annual Cost Structure Planning:
Check/Maintain accuracy of conversion cost, product quantities, BOM’s, routings
Explain variances in mfg cost budgets to MFG & Finance leadership
Site Leadership Support:
Provide relevant, accurate & timely cost analysis and reporting to site leadership
Support cost improvement initiatives
Be the Trust Business Advisor
Manufacturing cost processes:
- Continuously seek out for system and process improvements
Compliance with Corporate policies and procedures :
Ensure adherence to compliance requirements
Educate manufacturing and business personnel on compliance requirements
What Eastman expects from you as Cost Accountant?
Bachelor/university level degree in accounting;
Relevant accounting experience in a multinational company;
Fluent in Dutch and English both oral and written;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and preferred knowledge of SAP (FI/CO);
Organized – to stay on top of significant amount of data and requests for reports/tasks. Demonstrated by: able to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, complete tasks, quality output;
Working effectively in a team environment;
Individuals should be self-motivated and have the initiative to resolve problems with minimum supervision;
