The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, develop, and implement appropriate therapeutic recreational

activities for all participants, including those with Alzheimer's and other related Dementia. Provide direction and

support to recreation assistant and other staff members as appropriate; and is responsible for quality improvement

within the recreation department.

Position Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop, and implement therapeutic recreational activities for participants, including those with Alzheimer's and related Dementia. Additionally, the role involves providing direction and support to recreation assistants, overseeing departmental quality improvement, and conducting occasional home care and nursing home visits.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage daily operations of the recreational therapy department, including staffing, assessments, and referrals.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team assessments and reassessments to identify participant needs.

  • Plan and implement group and individual treatments to address cognitive, physical, social, and psychosocial needs.

  • Coordinate activities for the dementia-specific population and provide ongoing support to staff involved.

  • Ensure timely documentation of participant activity participation records and assessments.

  • Lead quality assessment and performance improvement activities within the department.

  • Provide training, education, and supervision for recreation therapist assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field OR NCCAP Activity Professionals Certification.

  • Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in therapeutic recreation with geriatric population.

  • Superior written/verbal communication skills with diverse audiences.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with flexibility in work priorities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and electronic mail/calendar systems.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% within the geographic region.

  • Ability to engage in physical tasks such as kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, and bending.
