Description of Work Unit

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies: This department is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado’s land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University – Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. Affiliated with CSU’s Marriage and Family Therapy ( MFT ) Program and the Center for Family and Couple Therapy ( CFCT ) in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, the newly formed Child Trauma and Resilience Assessment Center ( CTRAC ) serves as a local, state, and regional child trauma assessment center.

CSU Spur: The CSU System, along with its partners, is standing up three buildings focused on water, food and agriculture, animal health, and sustainability at the CSU Spur campus at the National Western Center. Within the Spur buildings, CSU will conduct research and convene experts from around the globe; students of all ages will engage with science and technology, and have opportunities for exploratory learning, transforming their thinking about food, water, and health and the careers available in these fields. Partners will participate in programming the space and bring evolving content to the year-round campus. The first Spur facility, Vida, opened in January of 2022. Terra, focused on food and agriculture opened in June of 2022, and the final building, Hydro, focused on water, will open in January of 2023. Learn more at www.CSUSpur.org.

Position Summary

Based in Denver at the Family Resilience Center ( FRC ), this position will be trained in and responsible for implementing an evidence-informed trauma and resilience assessment model, building relationships and community partnerships, and offering training opportunities for human services professionals, clinicians, and graduate students looking to learn more about trauma and resilience. As an extension of the CSU Trauma and Resilience Assessment Center ( CTRAC ) in Fort Collins, this position will collaborate and work closely with senior clinicians and center directors during their first year. This position also offers professional development opportunities such as further clinical training in trauma-informed practice, workshops, collaborations with national groups, and consultations with community partners (such as the Department of Human Services). Furthermore, hours accrued through supervision ( AAMFT approved) and assessment may count toward licensure requirements (please check the requirements outlined by your field of practice).

Required Job Qualifications

  • Must have a Master’s in Human Development and Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field, and be working toward full licensure.

  • Ability to pass FBI / CBI and Verified Volunteers background checks.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy or related field.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required in both English and Spanish.

  • Knowledge of and background in trauma-informed care.

  • Clinical experience working with children.

  • Experience conducting trauma assessments.

  • Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate in American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy ( AAMFT ).

  • Experience working on teams.

  • Possess a working knowledge of systems theories.

  • Participate in case planning and review meetings

  • Prepare and participate in legal testimony if requested.

  • Assist in assessment processes and report writing for fellow clinicians.

  • Facilitate training and provide consultations pertaining to trauma-informed practice.

  • Attend training in trauma and resilience assessment and trauma-informed treatment.

  • Participate in training and onboarding (which may include travel to Fort Collins when needed).

  • Playing an active role in leading a state-wide implementation of trauma and resilience assessments.

  • Collaborate with CTRAC Directors and other FRC staff to further establish the FRC at CSU Spur.

  • Collaborate with CTRAC case manager and billing specialist.

  • Develop relationships with community partners in the Denver metro area with the goal of securing contracts for assessment, consultation, and/or training services.

  • Partners include but are not limited to local department of human services, schools, community health clinics, juvenile detention centers, congregate care settings, and medical providers.

  • Collaborate with current clinicians to implement a marketing strategy for promoting the FRC in Denver and surrounding areas.
