The Financial Analyst compiles and analyzes financial information for the assigned division(s)/department(s) in an efficient and accurate manner. Moreover, the incumbent assists management in the decision-making process and strategic planning by presenting relevant financial reports in a clear, concise, and timely manner.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations. Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings. Provides analytical support for forward-looking financial or business-related projects. Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts. Designs and builds various models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives or opportunities. Develops and maintains performance and productivity dashboards, models or analyses. Collects, interprets and analyzes relevant data or metrics. May develop and maintain reports to support plans, business decisions, operational changes, strategic plans and new services. Resolves any reporting issues. Helps process purchase requisitions, journals, expense reports, purchase card reconciliations, payroll, and other transactions in the University’s financial system (Workday). Will support Sr. Program Coordinator’s roles if there is any absence. Makes recommendations to align policies and procedures with best practices and capitalize on financial opportunities. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.

  • Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.

  • Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.

  • Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.

  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.

  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.

Department Specific Functions

GENERAL DCIE SUPPORT FUNCTIONS

Generates monthly summary reports of all programs, gift accounts (Report 90). Supports Departments as they work with the DCIE Business Office to ensure that proper accounts (Workday Drivers/PGs) are established. Responsible for assisting/ submitting all payroll related transactions into Workday. Primarily work with the Finance manager, but will also assist the others members of the DCIE business office.
