Job Description

The Campus School at Boston College is a private, publicly funded special education day school within the Lynch School of Education and Human Development on the Boston College campus. The Campus School educates students ages 3-22 with extensive support needs, including complex medical needs.

SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the special education teacher with the management of appropriate educational, therapeutic and health care services for each student in the classroom, as indicated in the Individualized Education Program.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for assisting the special education teacher with the implementation of the Individualized Education Program for each student in the classroom

Attend transdisciplinary team meetings or other pertinent meetings relevant to implementing the students’ Individualized Education Program and attend in-service trainings

Responsible for following daily classroom schedules and specific programs for group and individual activities for each student as directed by special education teacher

Assist the special education teacher with organization and maintenance of classroom and therapeutic supplies and equipment

Accompany students to therapy sessions as needed

Communicate effectively with students, staff and administration

Under the direction of the classroom special education teacher and therapists, share in teaching in the classroom setting and the development of curriculum materials

Observe classroom settings covering ages 3-22

Assist students in attending to their personal care needs

Support the mission of the Campus School at Boston College

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field and experience working with students with multiple disabilities preferred.
