JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Software QA Engineer

Reports to: VP Software Engineering

FLSA Status: (Exempt / Non-Exempt) : Exempt

Supervise Others: (Yes/No): No

Primary Responsibilities: The Software QA Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of our software products. This position will work closely with both software developers, product managers and owners, and other business stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a QA Engineer.

  • Required experience with test cases, designing test cases, and working as a QA Engineer on web applications.

  • Experience working with Jira and Zephyr or related test management systems is a big plus.

  • Knowledge in fair housing and local real estate laws, where applicable

  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint; advanced preferred

  • Working knowledge of Sofware development lifecycle, and common tools used in the lifecycle (Git, Jira or alternative ticket management systems, CI/CD, etc.).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills in fast paced environment.

  • Detail oriented, with the ability to produce high quality work in a deadline-oriented environment and an ability to multi-task.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with product owners and developers to develop acceptance criteria and test plans for future development work.

  • Collaborate with Technology team and business units to track, prioritize, and status of defects.

  • Development and management of test cases based on functional requirements.

  • Execution of of test cases manually and eventually through automation tools to validate proper operation of software systems.

  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor or leadership team.

Key Metrics & Responsibilities

  • Reduction of defects released into production and required hotfixes.

  • Key member of Engineering team, proposing and implementing process improvements to increase quality of software releases.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of working extended hours, to include evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.

  • Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, to include the exchange and receipt of information over the telephone.

  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.

  • Position may involve sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 25 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must also be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.

  • Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills.

  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.

Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances. For safety reasons, employee must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

  • Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
