Microsoft Corporation Studio Engineer in Bangalore, India

The Studio Engineer plays a critical role in the Product Development Team. We support a wide range of products, including the Surface product line, XBOX console and accessories, HoloLens, and more. We work closely with Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers, and our manufacturing partners to develop world-class products. For a given program, the primary deliverable for the Studio Engineer is the modeling of the exterior Class-A Surfaces. This work will include the enhancement of existing products as well as the development of new product designs and concepts. #Surface

Responsibilities

The Studio Engineer will be responsible for:

• Working closely with the Industrial Design (ID) team, Mechanical Engineering (ME) team, and the Advanced Prototype Center (APC) in the development of CAD models ranging from rough concepts and prototypes to final Class-A Industrial Design Master Models.

• Acting as a liaison between the ID and ME teams, ensuring that all ID requirements are captured, while helping to resolve ME issues during the development of a product.

• Understanding and supporting Mechanical Engineering, Tooling, and Manufacturing requirements- all while protecting ID intent through production.

• Providing the necessary CAD data to the APC to support the development of physical prototype models.

Qualifications

Requirements :

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design / another related field OR a candidate who lacks a degree but has 5+ years of experience in these fields will also be considered.

• 3+ years of experience in the development of Class-A Surface models, working closely with Industrial Designers. This experience must include working with either Autodesk Alias or ICEM Surf software.

• 2+ years of experience building parametric CAD models using PTC Creo, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or Catia. Must have worked collaboratively within a PDM system (Windchill, Teamcenter, etc.)

• An advanced understanding of Class-A Surfacing techniques and terminology

Preferred but not mandatory:

• Experience with rapid prototyping processes (3D Printing, CNC, etc.)

• Experience with subdivision modeling (Blender, Rhino, Creo, Alias, etc.)

• Experience with rendering for product visualization (Keyshot or Blender)

• Experience with programming (Python, Grasshopper, or Dynamo)

• Experience with large-scale CAD data management

• Experience in teaching others, either in a classroom setting or one-on-one

• Technical experience with mechanical engineering, tooling, and manufacturing of consumer products.

• A record of being well-organized, particularly with regards to managing the CAD data created while pursuing multiple design development paths.
