The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) District 5 is currently recruiting for a Chief, Engineering Systems Team (Transportation Engineering Manager II) in Anne Arundel County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy or function only. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment conducted for this job classification.
Nature of Work: This position serves as the Chief of the District 5 Engineering Systems Team in developing the System Preservation Program. This position will be supervising, directing, managing, and administering the work of engineering design and project management teams, and six consultant engineering firms including the procurement of their services. This position also functions as part of the management team for District 5. The System Preservation Program development and management responsibilities include the Intersection Capacity Improvement Program (Fund 87), Spot Improvement Program (Fund 76), Safety and Resurfacing Program (Fund 77 and Areawide Program), and the Crash Prevention Program (Fund 30).

Qualifications
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Eight (8) years' experience in professional engineering, including one (1) year of supervisory or consultant management experience.
Selective Qualification: Four (4) years of experience in design project management, including the preparation of construction contract documents.
A Selective Qualification is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).
Notes:
Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the non- supervisory experience.
Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements
Licenses & Certifications
Candidates must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid within the state of Maryland.
