Work Location:Alexandria, VA and Remote local to the Pentagon and Mark Center

SURVICE Engineeringis seeking aSenior Engineer (Specialty Engineering)with demonstrated experience in cutting edge technology, developing new Systems Engineering policies, guidance, process and best practices that are essential for warfighting success. The areas of specialty engineering are: Manufacturing and Quality Engineering; Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS); Value Engineering; Human Systems Integration (HSI); System Safety Engineering; Reliability and Maintainability (RandM) Engineering).

As aSenior Engineer (Specialty Engineering)you will:

  • Work to formulate, integrate, demonstrate, and evaluate developmental and experimental systems engineering conceptswith planned transition to end users.
  • Manage large projects covering a broad range of complex technical tasks which require highly specialized and diverse knowledge.
  • Work with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals.

What would your week be like?

  • Assist DoD to establish, maintain, and propagate state-of-art engineering practice.
  • Monitor, review and assess the systems engineering and development planning activities of the major and select defense acquisition programs.
  • Support the programs in warfare domains such as: C3, ISR, Business, Communications, Fixed Wing, Weapons, Land Warfare, Rotary Wing, UAS, Ships, Submarines, Space, Missile, and Missile Defense.
  • Develop new approaches to address emerging Systems Engineering competencies in complex systems, large scale software, and trusted and secured systems.
  • Identify tools and practices to support architecture level assessment of emerging capabilities in system-of-systems initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a methodology, processes, and metrics to assess systems integration risk that will be used to support technical reviews and milestone decision points.
  • Develop and prepare presentations for meetings and conferences with the Services, Industry and Academia. Examples include OSD and Service SE Forums, NDIA SE Conference, specialty engineering conferences. Coordinate and support participation in International, Congressional, Industry, Community Forums, and STEM activities.
  • Display experience in RAM modeling, design techniques, predictions, reliability growth management, requirements generation, software, and specification inputs.

Job Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience of systems engineering and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDTandE).
  • BS degree in Engineering or related STEM fields. Master's degree preferred.
  • Active membership in a professional association related to one of the Special Engineering disciplines
  • Previous experience with Department of Defense RDTandE mission and processes.
  • Experience with Cross-Domain Solutions.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and briefing skills.
  • Experience with the following specialty areas: RAM, Human Factor Engineering, and Safety Engineering.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of DoD RAM Regulations required. Experience in working with RAM data to identify RAM trends, lessons learned and success metrics.
  • Experience in human factors engineering of major military systems. Shall include experience in Manpower Personnel Training (MPT) and the use of human development or testing military systems.
